2. 考什么?What is Tested?

The examiner looks at four key areas:

1. 1 语法正确性 Grammatical Correctness

语法正确性 yǔfǎ zhèngquèxìng grammatical correctness

Your sentence must be grammatically correct Chinese. Avoid incomplete sentences, missing verbs, or wrong word order.

Weak Answer Strong Answer

2. 2 语境恰当性 Contextual Appropriateness

Use the right level of formality. Talking to a teacher uses different language than talking to a best friend.

4. 4 回应的连贯性 Response Coherence

连贯性 liánguànxìng coherence/flow

The whole conversation must flow naturally from beginning to end. Your added lines should feel like a real person speaking — not a robot giving one-word answers.

3. 判断说话者关系 Identifying Speaker Relationships

Before writing anything, identify who is talking to whom. This affects every word you choose.

5. 1 朋友之间 Between Friends

朋友 péngyou friends

  • Tone: Casual, warm, direct
  • Suitable expressions: 没问题!、我们一起去吧!、你放心,我帮你。

  • Suitable expressions (student speaking): 老师,我明白了。/ 谢谢老师的提醒。/ 对不起,我下次会注意。
  • Suitable expressions (teacher speaking): 你做得很好。/ 希望你继续努力。
  • Avoid: Calling the teacher by name, using slang

7. 3 家长与孩子之间 Between Parent and Child

家长-孩子 jiāzhǎng-háizi parent-child

  • Tone: Respectful toward parent; parent speaks with warmth and authority
  • Suitable expressions (child speaking): 妈妈,我知道了。/ 爸爸,您放心,我一定会认真准备的。

不只说"好"或"不好" bù zhǐ shuō hǎo huò bù hǎo don’t just say “good” or “not good”

A one-word or two-word response will lose marks. Expand your answer to show understanding and engagement.

Weak (loses marks) Strong (earns full marks)
好。 好的,我一定会在明天下午之前把作业交给你。
不行。 对不起,我今天下午有补习,没办法一起去,不如我们改成星期六?

Formula for a strong response:

[Agreement/Disagreement] + [Reason or Detail] + [Follow-up action or question]

14. 2 回应问题的结构 Structure for Answering Questions

When the speaker asks you a question, your response should:

  1. Address the question directly — don’t ignore what was asked
  2. Give a reason or explanation — why do you think so?
  3. (Optional) Ask back or move the conversation forward — keep it natural

Example:

Question: 你觉得我们的节目应该表演什么? Weak: 唱歌。 Strong: 我觉得我们可以表演话剧,因为班上很多同学喜欢演戏,而且话剧可以让大家更投入地参与。
